“My name is Dawn Mantle & I don’t ride a motorcycle, but I’m still a fundraiser for the Grand River Motorcycle Ride for Dad as well, as of this year, the Registration Coordinator. You may be wondering why I’m a part of this charitable event even though I don’t ride, and I have an excellent reason – my dad died on November 21st, 2015 from Prostate Cancer. He had been a huge part of the Ride for Dad, even becoming an honorary Ride Captain when he could no longer ride. I wasn’t about to let all his hard work of raising money and more importantly bringing awareness of this disease just stop because he was no longer alive. He will always live in my heart and keeping what he was so passionate about going helps keep his spirit alive within me.
You don’t have to be a rider to raise money for a great cause or to spread awareness about Prostate Cancer. Heck, you don’t even have to be a man – all you have to be is passionate about the cause and helping raise money that will be used to fund research into better testing, diagnosis and maybe one day a cure.
We all have men in our lives, whether it be a father, brother, uncle, grandfather or a friend so I recommend to everyone out there male, female, rider or non to get out and participate in your areas Motorcycle Ride for Dad event.”
