The Grand River Motorcycle Ride for Dad donates $91,598 for Prostate Cancer Research and
KITCHENER (Monday, May 15, 2017) – The local organizing committee of the Grand River Motorcycle
Ride for Dad was proud to make their cheque presentation on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Dr. Ernest Osei,
Director of Physics, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, accepted a cheque for $91,598 on behalf of the
On Saturday, June 4, 2016, 715 local motorcycle enthusiasts joined the fight against prostate cancer.
Brilliant sunshine and high spirits were the order of the day as Chief Bryan Larkin, of the Waterloo
Regional Police Service, led the parade that stretched from the east end of Kitchener to the west end of
Waterloo. The Chief was joined by local celebrities Jen Campbell and Mike Farwell from Country 106
Radio and Lyndsay Morrison from CTV News. All joined together to raise funds and awareness for the fight
against prostate cancer. It was a fun filled family event with participants from all walks of life gathering
pledges and riding all types of motorcycles.
To date the local fundraising efforts of the Ride for Dad total $1,400,000 in thirteen years! Another solid
effort thanks to a very generous community, dedicated riders, pledge earners, community partners and
The Grand River Hospital Foundation will accept research proposals for the research portion of the funds to
be designated for prostate cancer research projects supporting our community. The balance will be spent on

The Grand River Motorcycle Ride for Dad is an annual event organized through the cooperation of the
Waterloo Regional Police Association and the Grand River Hospital Foundation. The purpose is to raise
money for prostate cancer research and education in the local area.
